THE VINEYARD

An exceptional
terroir

Château Pouyanne’s vineyard covers 55 hectares of beautiful terroir in Budos, 40 km south-east of Bordeaux.

The hillside has varied soils: gravel-rich at the top, with clay and limestone on the lower slopes.

At Château Pouyanne, we have always been committed to offering quality wines at accessible prices. This dedication to good value guides our work, vintage after vintage.

Enjoyed at home and in restaurants, our wines bring people together over a meal. The loyalty of our customers, both private individuals and professionals, is our greatest reward.

OUR CRAFT

Winemaking

Step inside the cellar. Choose a wine to discover how it is made.

CHÂTEAU POUYANNE · WINEMAKING

Our red wines

We harvest the grapes at full ripeness, sorting them on board the harvester. Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless-steel tanks over 15–25 days, at a controlled temperature of 25–28°C, to preserve the fruit and fine tannins.

After fermentation, our red Graves continues to mature in tank. For Sélection Prestige, we select the best tanks for maturation with oak.

CHÂTEAU POUYANNE · WINEMAKING

Our rosé

We harvest the Cabernet Sauvignon during the cooler hours of the day. The grapes undergo cold maceration for 2–5 hours before pressing. We then select the juices to achieve a pale colour and preserve the red fruit aromas.

CHÂTEAU POUYANNE · WINEMAKING

Our white wine

We harvest the grapes early in the morning. The Sauvignon Blanc undergoes cold skin contact before pressing. The Sémillon is pressed directly in a pneumatic press, protected from oxygen. Following low-temperature fermentation, the wine matures on its fine lees for six months before bottling.
